Gary Ferguson (Ferg)  Gary grew up in a farm and ranch environment, where his parents had a homestead in northern Phillips county, about 4 miles from the Canadian border. When he was a young child his parents moved to Loring, a small farm and ranch community north of Malta. There Gary's father ran the first grain elevator, built when the railroad branch line came through Loring. His family always had a couple of saddle horses, cows, and other animals. When Gary was ten years old, the elevator company transferred his father to Columbus, in Stillwater county. In addition to running the grain elevator, his family farmed and ranched in the Columbus area.

At age 18, Gary went into the U.S. Air Force, where he served over twenty years. It was during this time he started playing guitar and playing western music in a band while stationed in England. He ran four to five piece bands for two years while in Germany, four years near Detroit, and 2 years in northern Maine, where he was the president of the Northern Maine New Brunswick Country Music Association, which was affiliated with the Country Music Association of Nashville, Tennessee. He ran a four piece band in Anchorage Alaska, where he was also the Membership Chairman of Alaska, for the Country Music Assocation of Nashville Tennessee. He now lives and has spent twenty plus years in the Bozeman, Montana area. Gary , his wife Rosalind, and three daughters, built and ran the Country Music Lounge near Bozeman, for several years, where they had Country Western music every week end.

Gary has had several recordings cut. Two were out of the Detroit area, one on Gary's own" Big Sky" Label, which charted for several weeks, in Detroit - Port Huron Michigan area. He had another single out of Memphis, Tennessee, on Camaro Records, affiliated with RCA, which charted in the New Brunswick, Canada area. He also had a record album out of Boise, Idaho, and Nashville, Tennessee, on American Heritage, the same label as Boxcar Willie, which featured Classic Country Western, and old time fiddle music., with sales in several states, Canada and England.

Gary played bass and sang vocals with Tommy Cash, Johnny's brother, at the northern Maine State Fair. He was on the Tex Williams Country Western Show as a vocalist in Anchorage, Alaska. Gary has performed in the above areas as well as three provinces in Canada, and on the same circuit in England as Tex Ritter, as well as performing in Ireland, Germany, Libya, and Louxembourg promoting western music. He was a country D.J. on Armed Forces Radio in Alaska. Gary has been on stage with such greats as Ernest Tubb. Hank Thompson, Johnny Bond, Tex Williams, Stonewall Jackson, and others. He has organized many jam sessions for non profit organizations in Maine, Michigan, Alaska and the Bozeman area, acting as M.C. and picking and singing. Some of these sessions had as many as twelve bands.

While in the Detroit area, Gary and his band," The Montana Country Gentlemen," won the annual Western Band Award presented by the Michigan Country Music Foundation, which is affiliated with the Country Music Foundation of Nashville. The nationally known Stanley brothers won the Bluegrass award at this show. Gary has belonged to the Nashville Song Writers Association International, Country Music Association, and Academy of Country Western Music.

Gary presently appears solo, within 250 miles of Bozeman. He is currently a member of the Cowboy Poets of Idaho, appearing at Townsend, White Sulphur, Dillon, Big Timber, and St. Anthony, Idaho gatherings. Has performed at the Gallatin County Winter Fair twice solo. He also performs at private clubs, senior centers, and rest homes, etc. He performs at local and state Good Sam Jamborees. At this time, he has released four CDs, and is working on a new cowboy one. He also plays for dances, or any occasion, using his authentic sounding rhythm unit ( One man band) which has Drum, Bass, piano, and other, accompaniment, along with playing his own Guitar back-up and strong vocals. . Gary books under his nickname "Ferg".
